Tom Banholzer formed the band in the spring
of 1999 . The group exclusivly plays tunes by
Duke Ellington and his "musical family" .
The bandleader wrote arrangements to portray
these wonderful classics in a fresh and new
approach . In the spring of 1999 , the quintet
played its first gig at the famous Jazzclub
"Seekuh" in Konstanz/Germany with
Andi Maile ts,ss (Stuttgart)-Marcel Schefer p
(St.Gallen/CH)-Christoph Sprenger b (Zürich/CH)
and Patrick Manzecchi dr (Konstanz) .
The gig was so good , that the band was
immediately booked as the supporting
act for Al Jarreau at the Hohentwiel Jazzfesival
in June . That set was recorded and is available
on CD - the brilliant Jochen Feucht on ts,ss
(because Maile had another engagement) .
The 2nd CD "More Duke And Live Again"
was recorded at the "Essebar" in Winterthur/CH .
That performance was broadcasted live by Radio
Stadtfilter with the formidable Philip Eden on
piano . Tobias Rädle (Friedrichshafen/D) , also
an excellent musician , is on piano since the
end of 2017 . Now on the bass is the wonderful
Karoline Höfler (Stuttgart) .
